Nonprofit
Strategic Planning
Planning
in the nonprofit sector has always been needed but has not
always been done. Being preoccupied with fulfilling the
organizational mission, having limited financial
resources, time or personnel, and thinking that a
long-term vision was a luxury, nonprofit leaders didn’t
take the time to plan strategically. Today, the tables
are turned as Boards and Executive Directors realize that
without long-term planning there will be less and less
likelihood of fulfilling the organizational mission or
having the necessary resources of people, money and time.
Planning means:
 |
That
the organizational mission is central |
 |
That
a vision for fulfilling the mission is concretely held |
 |
That
the leadership knows and trusts the stakeholders |
 |
That
measurable outcomes are agreed upon |
 |
That
evaluation is ongoing |
For my
client, strategic planning is an ongoing, energizing
process.
